EυρωπαϊκήΗμέραΓλωσσών : Languages open doors

Η 26^η Σεπτεμβρίου έχει καθιερωθεί ως Ευρωπαϊκή Μέρα Γλωσσών από το Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης από το 2001.  Είναι μια πανευρωπαϊκή «εκστρατεία» που έχει στόχο να προωθήσει την εκμάθηση γλωσσών και την πολυγλωσσία. Το μήνυμά της είναι διπλό: να αντιληφθούν οι πολίτες της Ευρώπης πως ποτέ δεν είναι αργά να μάθουν άλλη μια ξένη γλώσσα αλλά και να αισθανθούν υπερήφανοι για τις γλωσσικές τους ικανότητες. Εξάλλου, με 225 γλώσσες από τις 6000-7000 που μιλιούνται παγκοσμίως η γλωσσική κληρονομιά της Ευρώπης είναι πλούσια και ποικίλη, ένα γεγονός που πρέπει να γιορτάζεται. Γιατί «οι γλώσσες ανοίγουν πόρτες».

September 26^th has been established as the European Day of Languages by the Council of Europe since 2001. It is a Europe-wide campaign in order to promote the importance of language learning and multilingualism. Its message is double: to encourage citizens of Europe to learn another foreign language -because it is never too late to do that- and to feel proud of their language skills. Besides, as 225 out of the 6000-7000 world languages are spoken in Europe, the linguistic heritage of Europe is rich and diverse, and this is a reason to celebrate; because ?languages open doors?.
